Please allow three (3) business days for your citation to be entered into our records system before contacting the Court. To see if your citation is in the system, you may search for it by clicking here: Double Oak Municipal Online Payments Search. This will also allow you to handle your citation online prior to your court date for options such as a Driving Safety Course, Deferred Disposition, paying in full or a payment plan.

Court Schedule

Until further notice the Double Oak Municipal Court will hold virtual court dockets. Information can be found under Virtual Court.

The Double Oak Municipal Court meets the first Wednesday of each month starting at 5:30 p.m. Double Oak Town Hall closes at 4:00 p.m. and will reopen at 5:00 p.m. on the day of Court. We highly encourage you to take care of your citation on the court website.

Important Notices

Your address is your responsibility

It is your responsibility to notify the court of any changes in your address. The court is required to only use the last known address in our records.

Offense involving violence

If you are convicted of a misdemeanor offense involving violence where you are or were a spouse, intimate partner, parent, or guardian of the victim or are or were involved in another similar relationship with the victim, it may be unlawful for you to possess or purchase a firearm, including a hand gun or long gun, or ammunition, pursuant to federal law under 18 U.S.C. Section 922(g)(9) or Section 46.04(b). Texas Penal Code. If you have any questions whether these laws make it illegal for you to possess or purchase a firearm, you should consult an attorney.

Notice regarding discovery

Pursuant to Art. 39.14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a Defendant has the right to request and examine documents and evidence to be used against them. Prior to entering your plea, you can submit to the Court a written request for such information. If you choose to make payment via the mail or the Court’s website, you explicitly decline to review such information and request that the Court accept your plea.

Community Service

If the judge has granted you community service, it may be completed at the following the locations or programs:

  • A work or job skills training program

  • A preparatory class for school equivalency exam

  • An alcohol or drug abuse program

  • A rehabilitation program

  • A counseling program, including a self-improvement program

  • A mentoring program

  • A governmental entity

  • A nonprofit organization or another organization that provides services to the general public that enhance social welfare and the general well-being of the community

  • An educational institution

Court Appearances

General Notices:

  • Be on time, no entry into the court room is permitted 20 minutes after court has started. Please be prepared for your appearance and to wait.

  • A paper copy of your automobile insurance is required. We will not print insurance cards for you.

  • Proper attire is required. Dress is business casual. (No shorts or cut-offs, tank tops or muscle shirts, no offensive, vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene or suggestive words, depictions or slogans, no clothing that is dirty, torn or ragged, no flip flops, hats, gum or sunglasses are allowed in the courtroom.)

  • Phones need to be turned off or on silent.

  • Please note that the court staff is prohibited from speaking to anyone other than the defendant or their attorney regarding the particulars of a citation unless the defendant is under age 17, then the court may speak with a parent or legal guardian.

  • Telephone calls do not constitute an appearance.

  • If there is a language barrier please notify the court and a translator will be provided.

Court Security:

To ensure the safety of everyone at the courthouse:

  • Expect to be screened through a metal detector.

  • Bags and purses will be inspected prior to entry.

  • Firearms (even if you have a permit), pocket knives, multi-use tools, scissors, knitting needles and other pointed/sharp items are not allowed in the courthouse.

  • Anything considered to be a weapon or that is deemed unacceptable by the security staff will be confiscated.

Show Cause Hearings:

If you are granted Deferred Disposition and/or deferment pending completion of the Drivers Safety Course and fail to present the appropriate documents and/or complete the course in the time required, you will be notified to return to court and explain to the Judge why you failed to comply. You must be present at this hearing, failure to do so will result in a conviction, a fine being assessed, and a warrant for your arrest being issued.

Juveniles

Special Instructions for Juveniles

The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over juveniles (16 year old or younger at the time of citation) charged with most Class C misdemeanor offenses. All Juveniles are required to appear in open court for all proceedings in their cases and the parent/guardian of the juvenile defendant is required to be present in court with his or her child, even if the defendant wishes to be represented by an attorney. 

  • Failure of a parent/guardian to appear with a juvenile constitutes a separate misdemeanor offense by the parent/guardian and juvenile who fail to appear in court may have an addition charge of failure to appear filed against them.

  • Juveniles that fail to appear or pay their fine will be reported to the Department of Public Safety, who will suspend their driver’s license.

  • Do not mail a plea or payment to the court.

Alcohol or Tobacco Offenses (under the age of 21) must appear in person on the court date given on the citation.
