Local Option Liquor Petition — What You Need to Know
The Town recently received a petition application from the Double Oak Committee for Economic Growth regarding a Local Option Liquor Election. Here's a summary of where things stand and what comes next.
What's happened so far: On May 18, the Town received the petition application with the required signatures, and the Town Secretary verified that all signatures belong to registered Double Oak voters. Petitions were formally issued on May 19, and on May 21 the Town Secretary mailed required notices to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) and the Texas Secretary of State.
What happens next: The applicant has 60 days from May 19 to submit the completed petition. Once filed, the Town Secretary will review it to confirm all legal requirements are met. Within 30 days of filing, the Town Council will vote at its next regular session on whether to order an election. If approved, the Local Option Liquor Election would be held on November 3, 2026.
Until next week — stay safe, stay neighborly, and stay proud to call Double Oak home.🌳🌳— Your Town Administration
