Speed Trailer Results – Oak Trail (Westbound & Eastbound)
The Double Oak Police Department recently deployed a traffic speed trailer on Oak Trail near 280 Oak Trail to better understand traffic speeds and driver behavior along this residential roadway. The trailer was in place from January 1 through January 14, 2026, monitoring traffic in both directions with a posted speed limit of 30 mph
280 Oak Trail WB 01-14-2026
During the 13-day monitoring period, the speed trailer recorded 2,883 total vehicles, with traffic fairly evenly split between westbound and eastbound travel. Overall results show that the majority of drivers are complying with the posted speed limit, which is encouraging for this neighborhood.
That said, the data also confirms that speeding continues to be an issue for a smaller but meaningful portion of drivers, particularly during lower-traffic hours. Isolated instances of excessive speeding were observed, reinforcing the need for continued enforcement and speed management efforts on Oak Trail and similar residential streets.
The Town and Police Department use speed trailer data like this to identify traffic patterns, guide enforcement deployment, and evaluate where additional traffic calming or patrol presence may be warranted.
